Crispy Baked French Fries

8/24/2018

It took me an embarrassingly long time to get this recipe right. Four tries in 3 days to be exact! I was like, "Oven baked French fries will be EASY to make." I was so wrong.

Initially, I tried baking them without soaking the potatoes beforehand...that extra starch was not nice. I baked the fries with no oil. No oil, no luck! Tried avocado oil, the heat-resistant warrior, and it was really good but 1 Tbsp was too much resulting in greasy baked fries.

Ladies and gentleman, we have the FINAL recipe. I went through all this experimental trouble so YOU don't have to. Enjoy!

Cooking Tips
  • Removing starch: Be sure to soak your potatoes after you slice them! This will help remove some of the starch which will help the fries crisp up nicely in the oven.
  • Play with Favors: Once you get this recipe down, feel free to try other seasonings like adding some garlic powder or trying a Cajun seasoning mix.

  • 2 small (or 1 large) Russet potatoes, sliced into matchsticks
  • 1/2 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Cooking spray

  6. Line potatoes onto the sheet pan, leaving space between each fry so it can cook evenly.

  9. Serve with your favorite dip and enjoy!
